Captain America: The First Avenger is a great period superhero movie. There aren't many of those. I loved seeing a superhero film that takes place during the time in which superhero were basically invented.

I like the character of Captain America, but in this specific movie, he doesn't have much of an arc. Throughout the MCU, he does. But in this specific film, he does not. He starts off a good man who wants to fight in the war and he ends a good man who fights in the war. Somehow though, it's a very interesting movie and I care about the characters. Perhaps it's the trauma he goes through losing Bucky that makes him relatable or even a little vulnerable.

Captain America: The First Avenger is a fun film that you can enjoy and doesn't make too much out of the fact that it takes place in the 40s, as some films milk the hell out of it.

Also the Red Skull makeup is fantastic they should do more full makeup characters instead of CGI where they can.
