Frozen II

Directed by: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee

Release date: November 22nd, 2019

Rating: 7/10

Frozen II, the sequel to 2013's Frozen, is a visually stunning film with great music. Too bad it suffers from a restricting runtime that forces plot lines to be rushed and muddled together.

This time, Anna and Elsa must travel to an enchanted forest to find the answer to their past and save their kingdom. Accompanied by Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven; the two sisters must each face their own challenges in order to discover the truth.

First off, this film is beautiful. Instead of taking place in winter, like the previous film, this takes place in late fall, making the color palette that of oranges, blues, and purples. It is truly breathtakingly animated.

The songs in this movie are far better than the first. It's hard for me to compare anything to Let it Go from the first film, as I'm sure that's a great song; but it's been overplayed so many times and screamed by children in supermarkets so much that I find it annoying. As of right now, both the standout songs are fantastic and not annoying to me at all.

Where the film is lacking is in the plot, or in fact, too much of one. The main plot line, while fine, loses its importance with everything else that's going on. We can feel the weight of the main plot in certain scenes, but whenever another plot line is being discussed/followed, it seems to be forgotten.

Overall this is a fine movie that kids will love, and there's enough for adults to enjoy as well. It's visually amazing with great animation and the music has improved from the pervious one. However, the film could've used a longer runtime to flesh out other plot lines.
